Leisure Activities

Recreation for the entire family is plentiful. A beautiful 9 hole public golf course is located within the city limits and was voted the Best 9-Hole Course in Iowa in 1999. Three parks totaling 33 acres of land are also located within city limits.

Other recreational opportunities include a 6-lane bowling alley offering leagues and year-round, open bowling and the Osceola County Historical Society, which maintains the McCallum Museum and Brunson Heritage House, located within Sibley’s City Park.

The Sibley Recreation Department maintains the Swimming Pool during the summer months. The pool was completely updated in 2000. Located adjacent to both the swimming pool and golf course is a public campground, complete with hook-ups. Year-round recreation and exercise for all Sibley citizens is provided through the recreation department.

Several years ago Sibley's Golf course was expanded for a housing project along the course. In 1999 the course was named the best 9 Hole course in Iowa by the Iowa Golf Association. The newly beautified course now offers a driving range and enhanced challenge.

The swimming pool in Sibley has recently been remodeled and enhanced. Now featured is a concession stand, water fountains and jets, as well as a beach area.

Sibley has many beautiful parks to enjoy which contain picnic and playground equipment and facilities. Listed below is the park name and its facilities.


  • Sibley Central Park - This park contains 4 shelter houses, 2 little league baseball diamonds, a soccer field, playground equipment, restroom facilities, and tennis courts.
  • Sunset Park - Sunset contains a shelter house, some playground equipment, a little league diamond, and restroom facilities.
  • Sam Robinson Memorial Park - Robinson Park is located next to Robinson Pond where you can camp for 3 days at a time with electrical and water hookups (small fee applies). Robinson Park is also located near the Sibley Golf and Country Club, and the Sibley Municipal Swimming Pool. This park contains restroom facilities, playground and 3 shelter houses.

Iowa Great lakes

Sibley is less than 45 minutes from Iowa's Great Lakes. Here you will find Spirit Lake, Iowa largest natural lake and Okoboji, Iowa's deepest lake and one of only four blue lakes in the world. This area provides year round activities such as amusement parks, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and cross country skiing.
